Clearly the New Year is always a good time to allow yourself as a Small Biz owner to reflect on the previous 12 months, see what worked and what didn’t - and also to set good intentions for the coming year - 2025 will be my 14th year of little folk nursery rhymes - and I am putting it out there that I am very VERY determined to make this a successful year for my small business after the brutal Cost of Living Crisis of the last year or so. To that end, I would be extremely grateful if you could share what I do with one other friend with little ones and direct them to my current timetable of joyful sing-songs @happityapp – Social Media & other forms of Marketing are all-well-and-good but really nothing beats the power of word-of-mouth by you lovely Mums (and of course the fab Dads that come too!)!

And a special snog and huge thanks to the wonder that is Sa @cubandpudding (swipe right!) - it has been a complete joy being able to talk together so frankly and honestly about our businesses,
sharing the highs and the lows and all the twists and turns AND for her trust in me to help out at her STUNNING new shop in Forest Hill (IYKYK) easing my smallbiz cashflow and allowing her a tiny step back from her constant workload on an occasion here and there - it really is such a lovely thing, two smallbiz Mammas having each other’s backs, I am SUPER-GRATEFUL - and oh yeah, go buy all her pieces, they are beautiful!

little folk end of year round-up Part 2!
From July as my weekly sessions came to a pause, there were more Pop-ups that celebrated the Summer Hols, then as the year went on other fun ones for World Nursery Rhymes Week and then of course all the joy of Christmas - a special thanks to @crystalpalaceparktrust for having my little folk sessions at the amazing @crystalpalacebowl and putting on fun events for the local community ❤️. There were a few visits to the rather fabulous @ukhouseoflords thanks to the amazing @britainsmallbiz @smallbizsatuk team who support us small businesses so strongly. Dotted through my year are also gorgeous little ones’ birthday parties which are just a JOY!
I pride myself on being a real voice on these funny squares,
so the pics also show tears 😭- running a small business is absolutely, most definitely not a walk in the park - the Cost of Living Crisis has certainly battered little folk at some my weekly classes and at some of my events and I can feel a bit discouraged and disillusioned at points BUT the 🔥I have inside to spread music & singing for little ones, support early years learning and provide a safe-space for all the lovely parents with real connection, support and community WELL THAT ENSURES that little folk MARCHES ON! And to that end, I am excited that November saw the launch of 🌍 little folk world 🌍 - the early years online sing-along that I can’t wait to nurture and grow in 2025! A great way to end to round off 2024!

The ubiquitous end of the year round up, sorry-a-bit-sorry!
Useful to me as a small biz owner to actually step back and reflect, a task I find very difficult as I am almost always in the weeds of the every day - the squares show snippets from Jan - June 24 (lucky you, the next post is the rest of the year) - the year started pretty shaky business-wise as I had to let-everything slide due to a family emergency (best news ever that all was ok eventually) - then there were my weekly sing-song sessions I adore, special pop-ups for Easter, May Day and Fathers Day, fab networking events mingling with fabulous humans in the Children’s Entertainment Sector, a Secret Garden Party and June ended with playing at the fab @jojomamanbebe Family Festival.
If you are still there 🤣, the rest of the year is to follow 💋
